The Germantown Gems would like to thank the following people and companies, with out their help hundreds of children would not have had the opportunity to learn baton twirling skills.

Kimberly Weaver a baton twirler from Pennsylvania and mom in Germantown,
Don D’Amato who was a former drummer for Wheaton High School, from Ashton, Maryland who volunteered his time to teach the drum corpss. Don was also a business owner in Rockville and helped the Gems get drums donated by various businesses.

However, one of the most important companies in the birth of the Germantown Gems was, B&B Refuse, Inc., a local company that still remains in our community. B&B Refuse, Inc. owned by Mr. & Mrs. Buddy Crigger was a tremendous support to the Gems. They donated numerous drums and costumes as well as banners and signs and money to pay for facilities to practice in the winter months. Without the Criggers the Germantown Gems would have never made it in the beginning.

The Washington-Rockville Elks lodge who allows the Gems to practice baton twirling in their facility in Rockville each Sunday from open to close. The Gems are very grateful to the Rockville-Elks lodge and do hope to remain a big part of the lodge and the great people there like Mr. Walter Wise.

The Gems are also very grateful to
Henry’s Housework, Inc. whose entire family has participated in the Gems as baton twirlers, rifle corp instructors, coaches and many other things at one time or another. One of their daughters was an original member of the Gems and began at age 13.  She recently gave birth to a new little Gem of her own and we look forward to teaching baton twirling skills to them in the future! Henry and Linda Bockman of Henry’s Housework, Inc. have continuously made monetary and time donations to the organization and helped with numerous fund raisers.  Their help has enabled us to teach others baton twirling skills and to sponsor baton twirling competitions.

We also have many parents of our children and other members of the community who have donated endless hours for the children.
Charles W. Houston 2nd of Frederick, Maryland
Tiny and Jerry Schuessler of Germantown, Maryland
Jenny and John Bein of Clarksburg, Maryland
Joni Giarth of Germantown, Maryland
Sandra Crosby of Baltimore, Maryland.
The Gems thank all who help and support the organization and hope to remain a community benefit for the baton twirling children in the area for many years to come.
