The Germantown Gems Baton Twirling group was established in June, 1994 in Germantown, Maryland.  The founder, Cheryl Crosby began this organization especially for the children of Germantown who could not afford the activities offered by the community.
Since Cheryl is an avid baton twirler herself, beginning at age her love of baton twirling has led her to teaching several different community organizations in Prince George’s County and Montgomery County Maryland.  She thought it would be good to share her baton twirling talents with the children in surrounding communities as well as her own children to promote the baton twirling community.

She has remained a member of the Capital Area Marching Association where she is a certified baton twirling judge since 1977.  She continues to judge baton twirling in parades and other baton twirling competitions all over Maryland.  Cheryl Crosby is known as one of the most active members of the baton twirling community.  Cheryl also designs and creates baton twirling costumes for twirling competitors across the nation.
